Highlighting certain thumbnails by clicking a menu button

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to make my site function in a similar way to this:

when you click a menu item, it fades out non relevent thumbnails but doesnt change the structure.

I got in contact with the guy who made the site and he says he did it manually using jquery.

I was wondering is plugins might exist for this now.

The page I would use it on is a posts page, where the posts are tiled and shown as thumbnails.
