highlight background color on specific text

Is there any way to highlight the background color of text: a character, word or sentence? I cannot tell if I can make a preset style that will do that; is it possible on the pro version perhaps? This must be very easy for the person that inputs content and will not code at all for it. But I can create it if then she can just click to use.
