    Hi,

our website is having high CPU load sometimes. We have 4xCPU 8GB RAM LiteSpeed server which is having 3-5% load constantly. But sometimes during the day it spikes up to 30-40%, sometimes even 80% and it stays like this for an hour-two. Firstly we thought this were bots DDosing us but, we saw the access logs and nothing there, just constant users and some friendly bots, but nothing suspicious. We have around 3000 users a day, which is not much. Our hosting provider says that there is a PHP process which is making one or two cores go to 100% and stay like that. We can’t see which is the process since it is because of the /index.php file which is used by all the plugins and the theme.

Do you think that your plugin will be able to pinpoint the problem? Or we must use something else for determination of this?

    Thank you,
    Best Regards,

    Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately QM isn’t the best tool to use to detect CPU usage, as it’s not something that it explicitly measures. You can infer CPU usage from long-running queries but that’s about it.

Your best bet is to try a tool such as Tideways XHProf or New Relic, both of which will give you a good insight into CPU usage.

Thank you for the fast response! I suppose I will have to ask the host to install Tideways XHProf then and see what is going on!

    Best Regards,
