• Hi there,

Is there a way to add a hierarchical filter to the standard Woo layered nav widgets? Or make the attributes support hierarchy display/filtering?

I need to provide a filter for products that are structured like this (cars, the same applies to any make/model relationship though where you want to search by brand and/or a specific product of a brand):

    Brand I
    – Brand I car model
    — Brand I car model specific version
    — …
    Brand II
    – Brand II car model
    — Brand II car model specific version
    — …

Ideally, one could choose any taxonomy instead of the the product_cat the in the product category widget for a facetted search. Having the attribute filter widget support hierarchy would be nice too though.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

You could use https://www.woocommerce.com/products/brands/ for a separate taxonomy. Once added, you could then add some custom CSS to indent the list items on the front end to make sure they’re displaying hierarchically as well.

Thanks for the input. I suggested this as official feature on github.

Make/model – or any brand/product relationship – should be displayed in one select in a hierarchical structure in my opinion. Often there’re rather complex product “trees”, especially when it comes to accessories, vehicle parts etc.

    Cheers,
    Thomas
