• In the codex, it says that “Each Link Category may be assigned to a Link Category Parent so that you may set up a hierarchy within the Category structure.”

My admin panel lets me assign parents to a post category, but not a link category.

    Is this possible or not?

Does anyone out there have anything about assigning a parent on their ‘Link Categories’ page or is the Codex wrong?

(if anyone wants to see what my Link Categories page actually looks like, I can do a screen capture.)

Thanks so much for all the help!

  • It sounds as though you want to change the hierarchy of your different pages. To do that you need to, in the dashboard, click pages, go to edit, and for each page you want to modify the hierarchy for you just look to the right panel, and the default for parent page will be “none”. Just change that accordingly.

Thanks so much for responding, Scapegoat. The thing is, I want to create a resource page full of outside links. I’m not currently trying to create a hierarchy of my own pages.

It looks like the way to do this is to add links and then tag them using the Link Categories. The Codex says I should be able to create a hierarchy within those categories, but I don’t see how.

I’ve created a set of screen captures on Flickr (with arrows) to show what pages I’m looking to.

    Thanks again,

Oops. Forgot to add that you’ll need to click the ‘All Sizes’ on the pictures to see them large enough.
