Hierarchy of Ad Groups

    Hi – I want to set up a series of groups for classified ads which can be clearly seen to be separate from other (non-classified) ads. The obvious way to do this appears to be to set up a group hierarchy via the ad creation page (you can create a new group in the panel on the right and at the same time specify a parent group). However, this option is not present on the main create groups page and it doesn’t seem to work very consistently. Is group hierarchy actually a feature of the plug-in or is it just an anomaly that you appear to be able to create them on the ad creation page?

    It is indeed an anomaly caused by Advanced Ads using WordPress core features here and me having forgotten about it over the years. I can remove it in a future release or we can use that to our advantage with your custom setup.

    Would you mind giving an example of what you would like to accomplish? I don’t think I fully understood your goal, yet.

    Hi Thomas,

    I think I am trying to do something with your plug-in which I would be better off using a different plug-in for. I am trying to set up two things – the ability for the website to carry normal ads (for which Advanced Ads is perfect) and the ability to support classified ads for members (i.e. those with a login). The latter would, I think, be better catered for by a specific classified ads plug-in which would allow individual members to create and post their own ads.

    Yes, I agree. The logic in Advanced Ads is not suited to handle sites with classified ads.

    If you consider the classifies as the default content of the site, which are posts and pages on other sites, then Advanced Ads is great to handle the ads around this content.
