Hierarchical Taxonomy Terms Custom Callback

I’m creating a directory that references a taxonomy that has a hierarchical term list, and have created a custom callback function for UM to query the taxonomy list, but they come back as all parent items. Is there a way to have the multi-select field callback a selectable hierarchical terms list?
