I have been trying to find a way to hide the ticket button after the event date has passed, i looked through the vortex theme but the with the template engine im getting lost.

It seems like a reasonable request since all expired ticket urls will land on a 404 or empty page. I’m surprised its not a default feature.

Is there a way to do this?

    Thank you.

  • Hi @cecode01,

Since the calendar shows only future events by default, this is normally not an issue — unless you have a default calendar start date set in Settings > Viewing Events tab.

Also, you can submit a feature request for our Dev Team to implement this feature for a future release. You can do so here:

    Thanks for the fast response.

the start date is not set in the settings and the calendar is set to agenda view. I don’t know if this is a separate issue however we still want to show past events so this is irrelevant to us.

This is an SEO issue, most of the links point to an external 404 page.
I might submit a feature request but it looks like it can take a year for something to get through and i need to resolve this now.

I’ll try to figure something out, worse case i can probably delete the button using JS, not the best way but it should work for at least google.

    Thanks.

    Hi @cecode01,

We have a development team in which each person puts in an unreasonable number of extended overtime hours from the office and also at home in order to develop and work on our Saas hosted calendar and it’s paid versions, for which we provide prioritized support. As a courtesy, we have also been providing the same turn around time in support for our free WordPress calendar and also for the questions on this forum (default turnaround time, as posted in the Sticky, is 1 week).

It looks like your approach is unique, as I have not encountered any other users who wish to display past events for SEO purposes, which would require custom modifications or programming to remove the ticketing button. In this case a feature request ticket is your best solution — unless you can modify the script yourself to hide the button.

It goes without saying that all the work and support you put in to this amazing free plugin is really appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your point of view and advise for the available options. I appreciate and respect you for that.
