so lets say I login with the name “joe”. but I changed my display name in admin to “bob”. It shows up as bob on the post. problem is, when I mouse over the name “bob”, it’s showing “joe” as the post author… it’s telling people what my login name is. how can I fix this?

    thanks.

This most likely depends on the theme you are using. What theme are you using?

    twenty seventeen.

wpbeginner has a blog post on hiding your author name here.

It also specifically mentions the twenty seventeen theme. If that is not what you are looking to do the same post also suggests using a specific author account that is different from your admin account.

    thanks I’ll check it out.

If you created a child theme and are using that, it is most likely possible to use only your display name by modifying some code.

not using a child theme at the moment.

Just wanted to add that if you were and you are comfortable modifying code, the same post mentioned modifying a specific function.

anyway good luck and if you are unable to resolve, let us know ??
