Hiding meta data in sticky posts

Hello there, and thanks in advance for your help!

I wold like to put a “Tip of the Day” as a sticky post on my homepage. However, since each tip will only require a line or two of text, including the meta data in the sticky post is visually overwhelming. I tried adding .postmetadata { display: none; clear: both; }, which I saw recommended to another user, in the “Per Post Style” section to no avail. [Of course, I may have put it in the wrong place.]
