Thanks a lot for the options plug in, it’s one of the best out there by far, and really helpful!

I’m currently using the hide featured image selector so that I can instead use the media and text article title block at the top of each post. (I like the smaller image size)

Firstly, does this stop the featured image being loaded? — or is it just hidden from view whilst still loading in the background. By hiding it will it speed up page loading times?

Secondly, by hiding the featured image it removes the images on category and archive pages too. Is there a way to display the featured image on these pages but not have it display at the top of posts?

    Thanks for your help

    Glad you like the plugin!

Currentlty he plugin just uses display: none; to hide the featured images … if you check the “Network” tab of the Inspector in your browser it should show whether the image is still being loaded or not. It actually may be possible for us to change the way the plugin hides the image … we may be able to use hooks instead to completely block the featured image HTML on single posts and pages.

So if you find out that the browser still loads the image despite the CSS to hide it and you’d like us to try to prevent this, let me know and we’ll add it to the “to do” list ??

It’s also not meant to hide the featured images on archive pages so we’ll fix that and update this thread when that’s done.

Hi Oliver, thanks for your quick response.

I actually can’t immediately see the featured images loading twice, but i’ll investigate it a bit further and get back to you.

Thanks very much for looking into the archive images, its really appreciated.
