Hiding certain images in WordPress galleries

As the title says, I am just wondering if it is possible to hide certain images in WordPress galleries? So that the galleries wouldn’t show all of the post’s images, and one could choose what images he/she wants to show in that specific gallery? At the moment I am frustrated because it is stupid that the gallery shows all of the post’s images!
