    Hi,

Changing the “Hide ads for user roles” setting doesn’t seem to affect auto-ads. Other ads are hidden fro specific roles, but the auto-ads keep appearing.

Is there a way to also hide the auto ads?

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi narlytom,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Your observation is correct. The insertion of the Auto Ads works independently from the disable section. But you can still show the Auto ads with Advanced Ads only for specific user groups.

    To do this,

    • copy get the Auto Ads code from your AdSense account
    • create a new ad unit in Advanced Ads (ad type: Plain Text & Code) and insert the auto ads code
    • Add the “user role” visitor condition and publish the ad
    • Navigate to Advanced Ads > Placements, create a new Header code placement (the one with </head> on the icon), and assign this ad unit to it
    • Ensure, that the automatic integration of Auto Ads is disabled (Advanced Ads > Settings > AdSense)
    • If you use both manually and automatically injected AdSense units, please, keep in mind that AdSense has been able to insert auto ads on any website that contains the code for AdSense ad units since October 2019. So even if you don’t integrate the auto ads code, but a manual AdSense ad unit instead, the Auto ads can appear there.

      Best regards,
      Joachim
