Hiden backend / Custom login doesn't work

  • Hi,

    I updated the plugin.
    And I used the functionnality “Hiden Backend /custom login page”.
    But it doesn’t work because we can still access to the login page with “wp-login” url.

    And I had a brute force attack for yesterday. (I still receive a lot of emails, because someone tries to connect on my website). And I really want to hide the login page.

    This option is in the advanced options. Tell me if it works, because, I can still access to my login page with “wp-login”. That’s bad…

    If you deactivate the iTSec plugin you will find the wp-login slug still works. Which is strange because wp-login is not an official WordPress slug for accessing the WordPress Dashboard login screen.

    In other words this is not an iTSec plugin issue.

    It’s an Apache web server configuration issue …

    You may have a point there.

    Currently the iTSec plugin Hide Backend code is only written to block the regular WordPress Dashboard access slugs. These include:

    • wp-admin
    • dashboard
    • admin
    • wp-login.php
    • login

    Yes right ! So my url “www.mywebsite.com/wp-login” shouldn’t be accessible. And I should go to my login page with the url “www.mywebsite.com/personalized”. But it doesn’t work.

    And I can access to my login page with both urls. I really want to hide the wp-login url.

    the same problem is here ??

    are there any solutions for the problem ???

    having the same issue on a lot of customer pages and getting client calls.
    Not funny. So do not update to the latest version of the plugin!

    Hey there I confirm the issue, and hopefully what I did will help you while the developers fix it, un-tick the option “Enable the hide backend feature.” and save changes and it should now work as expected, just make sure you enter the right login slug first and save.

    Appreciate your input but this topic is about the iTSec plugin Hide Backend feature NOT blocking the WordPress non default wp-login slug.

    Anyway I’ll repeat what I said before. This is an Apache web server configuration issue. Look for a solution there.

    It is unlikely that Apache is causing .htaccess to be written with one version back of the rewritten admin slug.

    I have the same problem with Hide Backend since last update 5.4.5. Lets hope iThemes fix it quickly. It don′t work anymore.

    I have fix the problem myself.

    Its very easy to fix.
    I don′t go into details, just UI simple fix, we need to save first Hide Backend with default plugin options enabling Hide Backend, after that we can personalize the url as usual before 5.4.5.

    There is a problem with a popup that I think is suppose to say something like “saved!” after we change something but it show only white. Anyway that is not Hide Backend related, just a bug to fix since last update.
