Hide widget when there are no upcoming events?

Is it possible to hide the MEC widget completely if there are no upcoming events? The Events Calendar has a simple option for this directly in the widget but I couldn’t find one here. It’s a bit frustrating for a user to see an event widget with zero events and instead a message stating “there are no events”, so the option to hide the whole thing would be great. Searched for it in the settings too but couldn’t find it.
