• Hi,

I am creating a site with WordPress, and was wondering if there is a way of making it private from the world whilst it is at this stage, because it appears that all-&-sundry can see the works in progress!?!?!

Ideally I would like to put up a page with maybe just my logo on and some text saying “Website under Development”, but not really sure how to do that either ..

Any help will be much appreciated ??

  • You can save your post or pages in private first.

Try installing a maintenance mode plugin.

What works well for me is to create a “Coming Soon” page and publish it. Then go to Settings >> Reading and choose that page as your Front Page. For some clients I also put a sign-up box on that page for people who want to be notified when the site goes live.

Thanks for all the responses, very helpful .. I suspect I’ll be using this forum an awful lot in the coming months!
