    I thought about adding that option, but to keep the code as clean as possible, I decided to let other plugins do that. One I use often to hide settings pages from non-admin users is Admin Menu Editor.

    Its a free plugin that lets you do far more than hide settings pages. You can change menu icons, menu text and show/hide stuff by username. Let me know if that plugin allows you to do what you want.

    Doing this with a third party plugin allows for special cases. For example, if an author needs to add instructions for an editor.
