Hide/show toggle

Thank you for the great plugin! I’m wondering if it’s possible to add a toggle button with an icon or just text “show/hide” that can hide the ticker and set a cookie to remember the status of the ticker to disable it. There’s a field to add “Script customization or adding (java/jquery)” but I’m not sure how to add that button in the first place. Thanks for your help.
