• I have had the request below to be implemented into a site, and I am unsure on the best way to go about this issue?

“We would like for the intial paragraph to appear as a news items – to show on the home page – to enable the reader to gain access to the rest of the article they would have to input their Name, Number, Email and company name. Once they have passed over their details they would be taken to a hidden page that has the rest of the article displayed.

Our intial worry would be returning visitors that have already inputted their data once, will the site recognise them and show the article as a whole (as we don’t really want the same data over and over again)”

  • This can be done with varying plugins. I believe one of these will help setup excerpts only on post pages and then request user registration to continue reading the articles. This then collects user data and is stored in the db. This data can later be used for newsletters, etc.

(Note: Any website that forces me to register or give any personal information to read an article is left right away and not returned to (in almost all cases the same information or services can be found without having to do so)- in this day and age many have become quite wary of providing any information to sources they do not have a very good reason to fully trust with that data. There are also various ‘rules’ across locations that require website owners to fully secure such data.)
