• Sometimes two commenters will get into a long discussion spanning dozens of comments. While that might be useful, a reader might want to skip all that and just go to the next top level comment without having to scroll all the way down.

    Is there any method or plugin that after a certain number of comments in a particular thread displays a “Show more” link and hides the rest of that thread? Basically a kind of “collapse comments” or “show comments” functionality allowing us to specify the number of comments after which this must happen.

    I think Disqus already has this capability but I want some way to do that with the native WordPress commenting system…

  • WordPress doesn’t have the ability by default. So you’d either need to create a custom solution (probably using jQuery) via your theme or use a plugin like Disqus.
