Hide Login for Multisite

Describe the problem in more detail. Forwarding works correctly, but you can not log in to a secondary site? What URL did you specify for the login page?

The URL is https://barnardgriffin.com/secure-auth-signin

And yes, that is correct. I can be logged in, and try to access the child site directly (https://barnardgriffintrade.com/) and the admin bar disappears, etc.

If I try to navigate to the child site from the Network admin dashboard, I get redirected to a 404.

This is the correct work of WordPress(in the list of sites puts a link to /wp-admin) and the Hide login page plugin(redirects from wp-admin to 404 if not authorized).
Because you have different domains and authorization for them is different.

Try to log in to the child domain, and then go to its console from the list of sites. There will be no forwarding to 404.
Or manually change the URL from
https://barnardgriffintrade.com/404
to
https://barnardgriffintrade.com/secure-auth-signin
