Hide language link in header if translation is not avalaible

Taking as example https://daniele.tech/2019/05/your-wordpress-instance-is-leaking-data-also-with-gutenberg/ in the header with the languages switch links.
In this article the italian version is not available and the user got redirected to the home page.
How it is possible to fix that? there is a setting because I didn’t find it.
