I have a “picky” client who wants events.

He wants time slots but I shall glsss pass this.

One option for him is to have separate tickets for time slots, over 3,400 entries!

However on the events page he does not want a huge long list of events, he just wants someone to search for events in their area, sometimes on a spacific date range and then the events show.

So the idea is that the Events page is just empty, apart form the search ability and then when a search is done events appear.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

    Cheers

Hmmm… Perhaps hiding the initial list using jQuery? And showing it only after the search result has been called (show on click search button)? Not out of the box, though, so you will need a little custom coding for that.

But perhaps your client can be persuaded that the end-user is the most important on a website? ?? How do they use it? What is the best way to get revenue (the core purpose of the website). People want to see the requested info fast and easy, without too much effort.
Personally, if I cannot find the info easily, I’m gone…

    Hi Patrick

The problem is that he has a hangup about previously he published events in public places and showed/revealed where they were.

People were turning up, not paying for the event, and just coming to take photo’s and stuff like that.

Hence he wants to hide the full list and just have a list be revealed based on a criteria search. Then get the person to book and pay for the event.

As I am not a programmer I would not know how to hide the list using jQuery or how to implement show on click search button.

Any ideas where I can find some code for this and where is should go?

    Cheers

    Hello,

I’m not sure if I’m following it correctly. There is a shortcode that you could put anywhere “[event_search_form]” This shortcode would only display the Event Search. Then you could just remove the Events page on the Main Menu of your site so front-end users can’t access them.

However, I would agree with Patrick that front-end users want an easy and fast way to access and navigate to an Event.

    Hi Timrv

    Believe me I’m with you!

However he is insistant he does not want a long list of events showing, even though I believe that it is right for the consumer to see.

    Thanks for your tip.

The only thing is that the short code is fine but when a search is done it actually takes you to the events page. I suppose there is no way to avoid that?

Where can I find a list of short codes for Events Manager?

    Cheers
