    Hi.

I would like to hide the course catalog page to visitors that are not members of our website.

I have created a membership plan and in the settings of the course catalog page I set the restrict access and select the membership plan I created.
But the page is still visible to non-members.
    How can I change that?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @efstraatios,

I apologize if I’m mistaken, but it seems like the course catalog page is also your front page.

If this is the case this documentation should help you resolve this issue: https://lifterlms.com/docs/courses-on-frontpage/

The courses shortcode mentioned in that documentation can be expanded upon and used in combination with the hide content shortcode found here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/shortcodes/#lifterlms_courses

Does this help or is this related to a different issue?

    Thanks and take care,

    Hi Natalie.

No, the course catalog is not my front page.

The course catalog page is not accessible via the menu for non-members but if do have the url they can still access it https://milleruniversity.org/courses/

What I want is to hide that page for non-members. The document you pointed out is for the exact opposite.
    Thanks

    Can I try anything else?

    Hi @efstraatios,

I apologize for the confusion! I see what you’re talking about now with the courses permalink!

Unfortunately, all courses and memberships, regardless of visibility settings, will always be accessible with the direct link.

There’s more information on course catalog/membership settings here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/course-membership-visibility-settings/

One thing you could do to make it harder to get to the course page via the direct permalink is to change the permalink from courses to something that’s not the default and a little more difficult to just stumble upon by typing the right thing into your browser bar.

To change the permalink you would go to the course catalog page and in Gutenberg locate the Permalink setting in the righthand sidebar. In Classic Editor the permalink will be directly below the title with a pencil edit button. If you do this keep in mind you may have to go into Settings->Permalinks and save that page to make the changes take affect.

    I apologize for the inconvenience!

Please let us know if you have further questions!

    Thanks and take care,

Yes, I know hot to change the permalink of the page. It is just that if a user saves the permalink once logged in he can now send it to anyone and anyone can visit the courses page.

    Thanks for your effort.

    @efstraatios,

It sounds like what you want is a completely private site and LifterLMS does not consider the course/membership catalogs to ever be private. This is the only way for users to get access to site content so if you want something completely private (where nothing is available except to logged in users) you’re not going to be satisfied with the features that LifterLMS provides.

This just isn’t a feature we have, it’s not a problem we aim to solve. We do a lot of things but this isn’t one of them.

This is something that may change in the future but as of today this is just not how it works.

    I’m sorry for the frustration
