Hide Child Page from Page Menu

How about the depth=1 parameter available with the template tag, wp_list_pages().

Hi Michael, unfortuantely I don’t know much about php, can you tell me where I can locate the tag so I can try the adjustment?

The wp_list_pages tag is usually place in your sidebar and in most themes, the sidebar is coded in sidebar.php.

No luck Michael, the line of code looks like this:

<?php wp_list_pages(‘sort_column=menu_order&depth=1&Title_l’)

I tried to take out the &Title_l and also tried to made depth=0

Any other suggestions?

This code:

in the WordPress Default 1.6 theme’s sidebar.php worked (meaning it only displayed top level Pages).

Still no luck, I even tried the ‘exclude=Page number’ tag and the child/subpage still showed up on the menu??????

Then you are using Widgets or what you are seeing for “the menu” is in a different file than you are revising.

Good point. It doesn’t matter what I do, nothing changes. I just decided to e-mail the person who created the template. Maybe they can help me out.

I’m definitely using widgets on the site.

I tried this because i had the same desire and it works to well:} When i go to the page the child pages dont show up..

I am using the the default 1.6 theme. Any Ideas?

in my sidebar file, and adding depth=1& to the first line doesn’t change anything… Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks for your reply. I’m not using widgets. I’ve followed the hint you are referring to, but didn’t know where to start. What other locations could be referring to the ‘menu’?

If it’s any help, the theme I’m using is Mono, and this is my site.

99% the top menu is in the header.php file.

No luck… Haven’t found anything that seems relevant in header.php. Any other clues? I’ve seen in other topics that the theme can overwrite the sidebar code. Would it be best to contact the developer of Mono, or do you have another suggestion?
