Is there a way to hide certain categories as postable for non-admins?

I’m utilizing a “Featured” Category to decide what posts go to the top of the main page. However, right now any contributer can just put select “Featured” from the category list when they post, and their stuff will go to the top.

I want to hide the “featured” category and make it only accessible by Admins. Is there a way to do that?

Did you have a chance to look around in the Plugins/Restriction section of the Codex? I think Limit Categories does exactly what you want.

    Thanks! It’s a great plugin.

Only thing is, it’s referring to a “minimum level” NUMBER, rather than word. So I have no idea what each level number means.

Does the “author” user level have a number attached to it that I don’t know about?

Or on that level, what level number is Admin?

    Admin is 10.
Numbered levels where prior to WP 2.0.
    Now there are Roles.
Good article about the new Roles feature AND comparison with the old levels… Roles_and_Capabilities

P.S. I just remembered: there is an excellent Role manager plugin, that also could be of help for you:

Thanks a ton Moshu, this issue is resolved.

I needed to just download the dude’s newest version, 1.5, which actually utilizes an option menu instead of coding.
