The Hide Backend function is not appearing on our WP5.2 iThemes Security 7.4 dashboard. I have not seen in documentation where it appears in this version, but when we run Security Check we see the following:

[green check] Identified server IPs to determine loopback requests.
[green check] Banned Users is enabled as recommended.
[green check] Database Backups is enabled as recommended.
[green check] Local Brute Force Protection is enabled as recommended.
[green check] Network Brute Force Protection is enabled as recommended.
[green check] WordPress Tweaks is enabled as recommended.
[red exclamation] Invalid IP returned: … The admin of this site does not allow users to access the wp dashboard.

Thinking it’s a theme and/or plugin conflict … but because I don’t know where Hide Backend function is selected on v.7.4, I wanted to check with you first. Thanks for your help.

  • Is the site using the Simple WordPress Membership plugin ?

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

    Yes, it is.

Ok, then this issue has nothing to do with Hide Backend.

Temporarily disable the Disable Access to WP Dashboard setting of the Simple Membership plugin and then rerun the Security Check module.

Oh, by the way, the Hide Backend module can be found under the Advanced (or All) category on the iTSec plugin Settings page.

That has worked — I was able to access the Hide Backend module (could not see it somehow) and enter settings. Re-ran Security Check module and it completed without an error. Thanks for your help!
