Hidden/Reappearing text

  • Hi. I don’t know how to explain this, but there is some copy that keeps appearing on our site when you first log on. when you run your mouse over it, it disappears, but then it always comes back when you call up the site again. I can see the code that is causing it, but although I’ve tried to delete it, it always comes back. I think it’s from a plugin that my husband installed some weeks ago to enable him to make page-navigation tabs for his categories. Unfortunately, he cannot remember what plugin it was, and although we’ve tried deactivating all likely culprits, this hasn’t helped. Moreover, according to the widget panel–we thought it might be a widget–we haven’t got any up.

    Can someone help? It’s not the theme–we’ve tried changing theme, and the copy remains and behaves the same way. Any advice would be veryb much appreciated. Thanks.

    Sorry. It’s https://www.cityofsmoke.com.

    They’re child categories – currently of the People and Things categories. Looks like it’s some sort of CSS/Javascript flyout sub-menu which appears to be part of the Magazine theme. Given that none of your top level categories are showing, I suspect that you need to sort out the category display in your theme generally.

    Okay, thanks. Let me mull that over. It doesn’t seem like it’s part of the theme–at any rate, I can’t find any option for that. But it’s helpful that you say it’s the css/javascript, because I thought it was in the html structure. Thank you SO much!!
