hidden site meter from WordPress?

    Does WordPress allow you to keep track of how many visits/hits you get on your blog? We were thinking of installing a peripheral site meter, but we want it to be hidden, not visible on the blog. Can we do this? Thanks!

  • Check the various site statistics plugins that are out there:

    WP-ShortStat is a popular one around here currently.

    There’s also https://www.statcounter.com/. Just place the relevant code somewhere like your footer.php and you’re good to go.

    I had a few problems with ShortStat but StatCounter worked dandy.

    I also use statcounter (www.statcounter.com) and am very happy with it. It also let’s you have a hidden counter.

    I’ve also tried sitemeter (www.sitemeter.com) but found statcounter had many more features.

    Just use David Chait’s plugins like CG-Referrer. You’ll get an admin section that shows recent searches, referrer list statistics, top referrers, bots, etc. And you can block and remove hits from those you don’t want counted towards your totals.

    Thanks for all the suggestions, I looked at StatCounter and it seems to be what we’re looking for. We’ll probably go with it, but since our blog is hosted externally and it requires code to be included, are there options that wouldn’t require us to go through our host? (i’m thinking not)

    Hi can I go in my footer.php to add the code for site counter?

    shortstat has been known to screw with your code. I like sitemeter, but unless you get a paid version then the TOS dictates it has to be visible.
