    Hi Mariken, @mariken,

    Problem:

The problem is that the option you’re using (Catalog visibility) is not meant to hide products from search engines (neither from your own site nor much less from Google or others!)

    From our documentation:

Catalog visibility – The Catalog lists all your products displayed on pages like the Shop page, product collections, categories, and more.. You can determine where and how Published products appear via the following options:

    • Shop and search?– the default, visible everywhere, shop pages, category pages and search results.
    • Shop only?– visible in shop pages and category pages, but not search results.
    • Search only?– visible in search results, but not in the shop page or category pages.
    • Hidden?– only visible on the single product page, and nowhere else.
    • This is a featured product?– checking this option gives prominence to the product for promotions across various sections of the shop that promotes featured product. It’s equivalent to?clicking the?Star?next to the product in the?Product list?view.

    Solution:

That being said, if you wish to hide products from Google and other search engines, this isn’t a core feature from WooCommerce, but you could achieve this through a plugin like Products Visibility by User Roles, or Yoast SEO Pro, for instance. You could also look for more options in Google itself!

    I hope this clarifies things!

    Cheers!

    Hi @zotezo,

The solution provided in the link you’ve shared should work as described, assuming all steps are followed correctly. It involves adding a code snippet to your theme’s functions.php file. This code will prevent hidden WooCommerce products from appearing in your site’s search results.

However, please ensure you have a complete backup of your site before making any changes to your theme files. Also, if you’re not comfortable editing these files, I would recommend making the changes on a staging site for testing before implementing on your live store.

I hope this answers your question.
