My client wants to have a site wide category that would be present in every blogs or new blogs created. The main function is for example:

    Main Blog
    category 1
category 1 child 1 //will link to other blog
    category 2
category 2 child 1 //will link to other blog
category 2 child 2 //will link to main blog
    category 2 child 3
    category 3
category 3 child 1 //will link to other blog
    category 3 child 1 child 1

In other words, the website must have a global categories where in if you add new category in blog 2 and add some post into it then the category will be visible to all blogs and when visitor clicks on the category link it will go to blog 2 category..

    Is it clear? :-(0

Thank you so much!! Hoping for best response!

    Yeah, don’t bump.

I don’t believe you can easily make sitewide categories. Remember, each site in MultiSite is meant to be SEPARATE. Think WordPress.com ??

That said, you CAN post to multiple blogs.

Broadcast a post/page to other blogs. Whitelist, blacklist, groups and automatic category+tag posting/creation available.

Not easily, no. And not available either. Get to coding. ??

FWIW, back in the wpmu days, the basics for global categories where there, but it was painful to implement (and scale) so it got dropped.

If you seriously need that much “global”, consider why you’re using multisite in the first place, and not single.

yeap… with multiple separate admin areas.. different themes. have their own categories as well.. under the global category. sounds bit too complicated? hmm

Maybe you need BLOG categories then? I seem to recall that being a plugin…

    Hi guys,
Think I have the same demand (or at least similar).
I want to create multiples blogs within the same domain. Like this:

    – domain.com/doctors/blog.a << this links to blog for doctors
    – domain.com/enginners/blog.b << this links to blog for engineers

Don’t need to have separate admin areas, but it’s nice to have.
    How can I do that?

    Thank you!
