    Sorry for the newbie question. I activated the plugin, but the comments are still visible. Do I need to do something else to disable them?

    Did you configure the plugin after activating it? There should be a message at the top of your dashboard asking you to do so. If not, look for Settings -> Disable Comments in the administration menu.
