    Hey,

I am trying The Hero Auto Slider Block. I set the Style and Speed and Delay.
It only plays one image. Then it doesn’t do anything else.
I selected 4 images in “Edit Gallery” and assumed the Hero Auto Slider would comply and play the images in the gallery, i.e. the next image plays after a delay. In the page editor, I can see a white rounded line with green color line inside it, in the bottom right hand corner of the Hero Image. But when previewing the page in “Preview”, only the white rounded line is shown and they is no “next image” or “slider” to see anything but the 1st image.

Either the Hero Auto Slider doesn’t support a gallery, or it’s a bug. Please explain how to use the Hero Auto Slider and what the reason is for it not playing/showing more than one image.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Hero Auto Slider block is meant for gallery content and should work out of the box. Maybe you see any JavaScript related errors?

    Best regards,

    Hi,

No errors shown, and this is a fresh WordPress installation with only the minimal plugins, no caching etc. and the Lemmony and Lemmony Agency child theme. No errors are showing on the screen. The first image plays (i.e. slide in left for example) but then nothing happens. How would a JavaScript error show and where?

Maybe you can share a link to the page, so we can inspect this issue?

Hey there, the website is under construction and I don’t want to show any contents or website details or anything about it at this point. I appreciate you offering though. I will leave that block for the time being, and perhaps get back to it either later or when website is ready to be shown. I am testing every single block available in Gutenberg and your blocks on a single testing page today. So many blocks, so little time. Out of every single block I have tested, in the “Editor” this is the only one that hasn’t worked so far.

Sure, here is how the block should work: https://lemmony.shufflehound.com/agency/

Please let us know if and when you can share the block. Currently, we couldn’t replicate the issue on our testing sites.

I am watching https://lemmony.shufflehound.com/agency/ now and if you mean the top rigth image with a dog with sunglasses and lemons in it, it doesn’t play in my browser either. It is static and just like on my test site, the little white rounded bar in right bottom corner is only white and has no interactive element like some “play” or “select” or “next”.

So, it made me think that my current browser/PC doesn’t support your Hero Auto Slider, but I tried in both Chrome and Edge. Edge has no plugins or extensions installed.

    Test setup:

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. Fully updated.

Chrome is up to date, Version 113.0.5672.127 (Official Build) (64-bit).
Microsoft EdgeVersion 113.0.1774.50 (Official build) (64-bit)

All your other “sliders” and “motion” effects seems to work on your test page and mine, it’s only that Hero Auto Slider that doesn’t.

Have you tested in on PC/Windows?

We have tested it on Windows 11 with all major browsers and it was working fine. We attached a video, so you can see how of it should have been working – https://imgur.com/a/ZrHu5JC

Currently, there are no controls and the block should just automatically change the images.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the video.

I now tested your demo site on another PC, a 2012 Laptop DELL Windows 11, and it plays on it ok. That makes me wonder if it could either be:

    1. Windows 10 compatibility?
    2. Browser support.
    3. Extensions or browser settings.

However, the thing is though I tested in all these 4 browsers now today:
    – Chrome
    – Microsoft Edge (I even did a full reset or the browsers settings that removes and extenstions etc.)
    – FireFox
    – Opera (brand new, 1st install on this PC today)

And they ALL just show the image with the dog, and the “loading” strip does not show the green bar, only the white rounded line, and the image doesn’t move/change. All other slide ins and text animations work.

This points towards Windows 10 compatiblity (since it didn’t work in any of the 3 browsers on my desktop PC).

Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system had a usage share of?71.36%?in April, followed by Windows 11 with a usage share of 23.11%

So it would be important you test on Windows 10 64 bit (Pro) since 71.36% still use Windows 10, not 11. I may upgrade when Windows (12) comes out in next few years.

    I don’t have a 3rd PC with Windows 10 so I can’t test on more PCs.

    Hi,

Since I tried this in 4 different browsers, all updated. In Windows 10 64 bit, it would appear very unlikely it’s something wrong with my computer or settings.

Could you please do some thorough testing on Windows 10, since around 72% of users including me are using Windows 10?

You mentioned you have tested on Windows 11. Since it works in Windows 11 on my laptop too, it would seem more likely it’s something to do with Windows 10 compatibility? Since it doesn’t play the gallery even in a new install of another browser with zero extensions or plugins, plus default settings.

Considering I have no other issues with any animations or software or websites or themes, this one gallery animation function not working on my computer seems a bit weird, don’t you think?

    GPU is NVIDA 3070
    CPU is 4 GHZ
OS is Windows 10 64 bit Pro

    Hi,

It is most definitely some kind of bug.

Usually, Windows 10 and Windows 11 don’t have any differences regarding the browsing experience as that is more related to the browsers and their versions.

We just installed the latest Windows 10 version in a virtual machine with fresh browser versions and it was working just fine in all of them – https://imgur.com/a/PKpVUfV

So it seems that it might be something else, not just the Windows version. Only question what exactly it is as we need to replicate the issue to fix it.

I was using PHP 8.2, perhaps it’s been tested up to 8.0 only?

    (@sundstedt)

    Hi again,

I now tested in 4 different browsers on my main PC, with Windows 10.

All give the same result of the Hero Slider. I.e. It just shows a white rounded corner shape, not green and not changing image, I took a screenshot for you below. All browsers showed the exact same white shape but no movement/changes: https://postimg.cc/LnRhTHkH

From left to right, running on your test website, not my site:

    1. Firefox
    2. Edge
    3. Chrome
    4. Opera

It does work on my IPhone, so it seems like the only device in can’t view it on is my Windows 10 Desktop PC. That’s the computer I use though so I really need it to work on it too. I can’t figure out what could be causing this, I tried to for example many different browsers, your demo site, my install on website, all with the issue. I tried to reset the NVIDIA 3070 to default settings, I tried removing any extensions in the browers, but nothing helped.
Not sure what else could be the cause.

OMG, I found the problem and solution. Pretty unexpected and hard to find.
Windows 10 does apparently not play carousels (and possibly some other animations too) in any browsers if this setting in Windows “Simplify and personalise Windows” setting “Show animations in Windows” is turned OFF.
Here is the setting, I have marked it with a red rectangle:

That is crazy, how that would stop animations like a slider carousel in browsers, right? I may never have been able to find that issue, but now you know. So, it was a Windows 10 OS Setting rather than a compatibility or bug I guess. I don’t think a Windows display setting should dictate the functionality of a website?! Not sure if you can adjust the code like if it’s JavaScript or something that could detect this and still work for anyone that has this Windows setting OFF?

Now, I wonder what else Windows settings may be messing up websites appearance that we are unaware of!

Hopefully this will be helpful to all other Windows users of the world..
I am assuming that this can probably be replicated in Windows 11 as well since it probably has that Personalise option too….

    What a great catch!

Yeah, we found a similar option for Windows 11 under Accessibility > Visual effects > Animation effects

So we decided to give this feature more support as it is meant for accessibility reasons. Now Lemmony disables most of the animations when this option is disabled. Beta version available here – https://lemmony.shufflehound.com/downloads/lemmony_1.2.1b.zip
