• I have been trying to set up my blog for a month now and realize I need professional help. I’ve searched the forum and site for help on my problems and the answers are there but I just don’t get it. I even got wordpress for dummies but its just not coming together for me. Maybe what i want to do i not possible on wordpress. Anyway is there a way to hire somebody to set-up this site? or a service/class in nyc that can teach this program?

    Hi nycgirl1

If you explain what it is you want to achieve then that’s a starting point, no need to get professional help at this time.

The good thing about the www is that things can be done from anywhere, we offer free help in setting up WP sites (although limited to Musicians and Artists) but will be glad to help if it’s not too time-consuming.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do already have wp installed and a domain and hosting. I uploaded a new theme that is similiar to what i want my site to look like and thought i could just customize it myself.I want to change colors, fonts, pictures, buttons…add a forum..job board page..ect. I am a fashion designer and even made my own pic in photoshop and illustrator that i want to be in the header. but i can’t understand how to change anything at all!

That, you will have to either hire somebody (or have someone do it for free) or learn (X)HTML + CSS (and optionally PHP, which is what WordPress is written in) yourself.

There are a lot of beginner’s guide for learning (X)HTML & CSS online and offline, a good site to begin is W3Schools.

Automattic’s (parent company of WordPress) own bbPress is a lightweight forum that can be integrated with WordPress, but it maybe a little bit difficult for you.

    Hi nycgirl1

What’s the theme you are using ?
