    Hello everyone,

I am very new to wordpress/blogging/web sites, etc. I will try to be as clear about my issue as possible, but am a newb so please be patient with me.

OK, my website is hosted by globat.com. my address is https://www.veggiegardener.com . Globat offers a one click install thingy for wordpress. I downloaded wordpress version 2.7.1 (the current one listed on this site). I then used the globat install and installed wordpress.

I got the username and password, and logged in to wordpress. I immediately noticed that the dashboard was very different than the pictures I have seen in the Docs section of this site.

My dashboard has a thick orange bar near the top of the page that says “Right Now” right below the word Dashboard. Very different than the gray styled dashboard I saw in the pics. Below this orange bar it says “This is WordPress version 2.5.1 Upgrade to version 2.7.1” (which is a link to go back to the download page).

I’m very confused because I download version 2.7.1, how could it be 2.5.1?

I deleted the database that wordpress was installed on and re-installed wordpress several times, but still get the same result.

Could the install be corrupted during the installation process? I’m not sure what use to do.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for writing the book – I just wanted to be as clear as possible.

    Thanks!

It is possible Globat’s one click install thing may install an OLDER version.

You might be able to upgrade that–see Upgrading WordPress

Or delete the Globat install and use Installing WordPress to install Version 2.7.1.

I re-installed wordpress without using the globat install and it worked like a charm.

Thank you MichaelH for your time!
