Help with Warning: Illegal string offset

  • My website had been running slow for last few days so I deactivated all 8 of the plugins I used and these two errors came up on https://www.ilistenloud.com:

    Warning: Illegal string offset ‘layout’ in /data/9/3/62/154/3551643/user/3954104/htdocs/wp-content/themes/afternight/lib/php/options.register.php on line 706

    Warning: Illegal string offset ‘sidebar’ in /data/9/3/62/154/3551643/user/3954104/htdocs/wp-content/themes/afternight/lib/php/options.register.php on line 707

    I have idea what they mean or how to fix them. All my plugins have been reactivated and still this error comes up, the error goes away when I change the theme. I want to use this theme, can you please help me with fixing these errors

    your “afternight” theme seems to be the issue.

    To rule out ant theme-specific issue, try switching to the unedited default, core-bundled Theme (such as Twenty Fourteen) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Alternately, you can remove other themes except the default theme. That will force your site to use it.
