Help with validation error

Im trying to go through and fix some of my validation errors, but I’ve never done anything like this before and was wondering if someone could explain this:

498 parse-error .entry ul li:before, #sidebar ul ul li:before, #rightside ul ul li:before, #leftside ul ul li:before unrecognized
