Help with Using Dynamic DNS and WAMPserver

  • Ok, I’ve got it running and all, I think. I can access it fine, locally, but when friends try to connect outside my network, they run into problems at the point that “localhost” is thrown into the links (https://localhost/index.php/category/uncategorized/). How do I resolve this issue? I’ve been trying, but I would break my site (internally) when I change the options for blog address.

    Use a real name or IP that’s resolvable. (search here on “localhost” for many related/same posts)

    you need to set up your url and home settings to your IP. OR you you need to use a site like no-ip.com to redirect to your IP, if its not static.

    Then you need to access your site using your browser at that IP or (whatever). In other words, you cannot have it both ways.

    If you do use a service like no-ip.com you can always edit your hosts file to internally redirect that domain to localhost. Im not sure how that might affect other things though. In fact it would probably break things — if you use no-ip.com or similar, you dont really need to do that anyway.

    I’m having a problem with the dynamic DNS redirect.
    By using it, when I try to reach my computer, the dynamic DNS redirects to my IP and wp tries to redirect to the dynamic DNS (i.e. when I try to go to https://www.mysite.no-ip.com I’m redirected to 12.34.56.78/wordpress and then wp tries to redirect to https://www.mysite.no-ip.com, causing a cycle impossible to end).
    This makes me impossible to view my blog, although i can reach my admin panel.
    How can it be solved?

    I’m having the same issue as Claudio. I’ve posted my own requests for help. As of yet I’ve not gotten any responses to this question. Could someone please give us a hand with this? Thanks so much!
