Help with understanding the Database warning

Could anyone explain what this message from Yoast that appears on my Dashboard means: Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.

I’m at a loss. My host disavows any knowledge of it and I don’t know how to fix it.
