Help with Static Front Page – remove default blank box?

    Hello,

    I have found similar older topics but have not been able to resolve my issue.

    Running Singl theme, trying to set up a ‘true’ static front page. I have a separate Posts page. Settings>Reading set to “Static front page.” Comments are disabled.

    Still, a blank box appears right in the middle of my ‘static’ front page where I just want the background photo, nothing else.

    Any pointers? Please keep in mind I am brand new to this and have no coding knowledge.
