• Greetings,

Aftering updating my blog to WordPress 4.4, I have encountered an error that I am at a loss to fix. When I attempt to log into my Dashboard, I get the following error message: “Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_removable_query_args() in /homepages/14/d92438909/htdocs/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 900” I have tried some troubleshooting, including disabling plugins via FTP and resetting to the default theme – nothing seems to work.

So, it seems I need to now reinstall WordPress. Fortunately, I did backup my database (using the backup function in my Dashboard) before attempting to upgrade to 4.4

My main question is, how do I reinstall WordPress with this existing backup. Do I just do a clean install and then import? Or something else? I’m not completely proficient when it comes to this type of installation, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

No, just reinstall the core files, nothing else.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    Thank you for the response!

I followed your instructions and am partially up and running. I’m able to login to my dashboard and my content appears to be intact. However, whenever I try to load a post on my blog, I get an error that the page does not exist. Do you know how I might go about fixing this issue?

    Thanks again for your help!

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.
