Sry – my site is currently not publicly available…

I built my WP site with an external developer and on my faculty pages I used the WP Pubmed Reflist plugin v1.2 to display pubs, it worked awesomely. This is what I use on each faculty page:

    [pmid-refs key=John+Doe limit=20]

Well, the developer has handed over the WP site to me and I now host it on my own web server, but, now my faculty pages barely even show any content; header & footer is gone, text nearly all gone. Wasn’t sure what was the prob – until I removed the WP Pubmed Reflist shortcode from a faculty page and all their content reappeared.

So it seems the WP Pubmed Reflist is now causing issues and I would like help with resolving this. Please let me know what info you need and I will be happy to provide.

    Thank you!!

    Can anyone help?
    Here’s some info I’ve gathered:
    I’m running: WordPress 5.0.3
    PHP 7.3.1, php openSSL enabled
    Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS)

I tried a deactivate and reactivate of the plugin – didn’t help.

With the plugin deactivated, my page content shows up…

Thinking next to do a complete removal of the plugin, but I don’t have much info from this site on what to remove other than the plugin in the wp-plugin dir. (maybe I missed some places to check..)

Look forward to some help. Thank you!

Apologies for not replying sooner. I came down with some crud over the weekend.

It’s kind of hard to tell what’s going on without being able to view the page, but can you view the page source? The plugin writes a comment tag before each block of references with something like “load from cache” I’m wondering if an unclosed comment is causing the problem.

Hi – thanks for your response! Before I saw your response I did find what may be the issue; in the WP Dashboard>Tools>WP PubMed Relist section I found some red text “php SimpleXML module not found. This is required to process NCBI query results.”

I’m going to have this installed ASAP and let you know if resolved my issue.

    Thanks!

This is resolved! The php SimpleXML module was not installed on my server… Now installed and the plugin is working again.

Best! (and thanks for creating this awesome plugin!)

whew! Glad it works for you. I should probably look at php to see if there’s a way I can detect that for users who can’t see the error logs.
