Help with Minor Widon’t Mod

I’m trying to modify the Shaun Inman’s Widon’t plugin so that I can turn off post-title widow control for posts in a particular category. (That category happens to be the category I use for asides). The code for Widon’t is incredibly short, but it’s a little beyond my meager PHP abilities to figure out where to put in the little if-then statement I’d need.
