• I am designing my blog site. I have a Homepage and 5 category pages. One of the pages is “Recipes”. When I publish a post it appears on my Homepage as a summary, with a “Read More” link. Perfect. If I click on the “Read More” link it opens the “Recipes” page where it displays the entire post. Perfect! However, if I click on the “Recipes” tab in my menu, it opens the page and I only see a summary, with the “Read More” link. NOT perfect! It’s driving me crazy! How can I fix it? Please keep in mind that I am a “newbie”. I need the reply to be in simple, easy to understand instructions. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is doing exactly what it should do.

The “Recipes” page is a “category” (aka ‘archive’) page, on which it will display any Posts in that category (up to the limit you specify in Settings >Reading).

Your Theme template file for your archives has a loop on it, and that loop is set to show your excerpt, not the full post. You can change that, however if you do, then your category page will display the full post for every post in that category, making your category page veeerrrry long…and folks will have to scroll. No one likes to scroll. I would advise you to leave it as it is, because that is how it’s designed to work.

TrishaM…thank you for the suggestion. I would still like to know how to change the loop to show the full post.
