Something wrong with FB link

  • Newbie here and I literally have no idea what I am doing!. I have searched everywhere and I know it has been answered a number of times but I do not understand any of the jargon or where to find some of the suggested fixes! I know nothing about creating a website other than following videos on how to do it! My problem is my FB page! It no longer links to my website. Error comes up with a number of things. Website URL is invalid, we are having trouble adding your website, something went wrong with this link! I have contacted FB at least 5 times with no response and I have debugged bit I really have no idea what it means so I really need help on sorting this out.   • I just left your site link as comment on your page and it’s working. But When I shared link on my wall, it doesn’t work. It’s weird, never seen this before.
    Try disabling all the plugins and switch to default theme and then share the link.

    Hi Qaiser. If I disable all the plugins won’t this mess up my website? I really have no idea how to do this and I am worried I will not be able to get my website back to the way it is now! I need step-by-step instructions!! It may be easier for me to create a new Facebook page and delete the old one (in the hope the link from FB to my website will work)

    Nothing wrong with your facebook page, when I shared link on my wall it didnt work.
    What happen if you share link on twitter or google plus?

    Hi Qaiser. Ive just seen your post on my FB page and commented on it. How does your link to my website work and mine doesn’t? I haven’t tried twitter or google+ as I didn’t want to use them, I’m having enough trouble with keeping track of FB & Instagram!

    I’m not sure if this will help but if I open (right click) the URL as a link it tells me ‘something went wrong’ but if I open it as a URL it takes me to my website! But I still can’t add my website to my FB page!

    Are you still seeing same issue?
    As I suggested, post link on other social networks and if yours link works fine then it’s FB issue and you can contact them again. If not then it’s you website server issue.

    First of all we need to find out the root of this issue, FB or your site/server.

    Still got the same issue. I logged on to my Instagram and twitter account and added the website to them and they both worked fine?! I have been in touch with my host and they have said “the site appears to be working now” but again nothing has changed so I have sent them another in-depth message so I will see what they come back with!
