• Hi there!

For the last 3 weeks I have had strange error codes at the top of my website page (www.thevinalesexperience.com). I contacted GoDaddy to see if they could help, but they told me it was an issue with WordPress. Any ideas how to help me, as a non-techy?!

    Error code example:

Warning: fopen(/home/content/n3pnexwpnas04_data01/89/41390989/html/wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/style.css): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/n3pnexwpnas04_data01/89/41390989/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4891

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • It looks like the permissions on the files have changed, and WordPress cannot read the theme headers.

    Try reinstalling the twentyfifteen theme.

Via FTP or your the file manager in your hosting control panel, delete the directory wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen. When you login, WP should switch to a default twenty* theme. You can then go to appearance->themes and cleanly reinstall twentyfifteen.

This concerns me: Warning: fopen(/home/content/n3pnexwpnas04_data01/89/41390989/html/wp-content/themes/twentynineteen/style.css): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/content/n3pnexwpnas04_data01/89/41390989/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4891

It appears you have inconsistent file permissions. How are you hosting your site? Are your file permissions 755 (directories) and 644 (files)?

How do I find out the answers to those questions?! Seriously… still learning this stuff…

Ask your host regarding the file permissions. You should be able to adjust them via FTP clients like FileZilla or your hosting control panel’s file manager app.

How are you hosting your site?
