Help with creating user profiles in wordpress

Don’t know if this question fits in this area, hope so.

I’m using wordpress to create a website for researchers on the college I’m attending. They’ll have their profiles, plus pages for contacts, research publications and the such. Creating those pages is easy, and modifying the templates to accommodate editing areas wasn’t very hard, but I’ve hit a wall here: each profile will have links to each researcher contacts, research publications and projects.
Maybe i’m missing something here, but how can I make a user-editable navigation menu for *each* page?
