Help with category slugs

    I’m having a problem where WP overwrites my category slugs even if I try to change them. It only happens on subcategories that I have rewritten (I had them before and a confusion caused me to delete them and start again, e.g. I only want this link to say summertomato.com/farmers-market/winter/ but WP makes it https://summertomato.com/category/farmers-market/winter-farmers-market-update-farmers-market-2/). I have heard this is because the old ones hang around in the database and to fix it I need to edit the database. Can anyone tell me how to do this or point me to a resource that will. I searched online a bit but it wasn’t very helpful.

    Also, why is the word “category” in the permalink?

    I’m having the same problem – if I delete a page that I’ve created, then later I can’t reuse that slug. It gets renamed “example-2”.

    Would appreciate a tip on this one..
