My post pages for the “Services” category have breadcrumbs enabled through Yoast. They look like this:

    Home ? Services ? Consulting

I want the “Services” link to go to <domain>/services . Instead it goes to <domain>/category/services

I can redirect through .htaccess, however, the link still says <domain>/category/services . Yes, when clicked it navigates to <domain>/services but the fact that the link has /category/ on it isn’t desirable and I am afraid it might be bad for SEO/Google.

How can I make “Services” in breadcrumbs have the <domain>/services URL rather than <domain>/category/services URL?

The “Services” property in the breadcrumbs is a category and as such, the “Services” URL appears in the breadcrumbs like /category/services. If you want to remove the category from the categories base URL, you will need to get rid of the /category from all the categories base URLs first.

You can remove the category prefix directly from the SEO → Search Appearance → Taxonomies (tab) → Category URLs → Remove the categories prefix → Remove options.

    Thanks for the tip.

I ultimately resolved the problem by creating Archive templates for each category using Elementor. Now the menu links and breadcrumb links match.
