• Plllleeeease help — I entered a new post and went on to update the primary page on a client’s site, and when I hit the update button on the page, EVERYTHING disappeared — and now the site isn’t even available! https://www.TrustOneKindness.com

I’m still in the WordPress account and comments/categories/tags are still visible but ALL of the posts and ALL of the pages disappeared.

I am not proficient at tech stuff but I’ve updated the posts and pages many times in both WordPress and Blogspot, without issue. What happened?

I just realized too, that this client has NEVER done a backup. Am I screwed???

  • Were you trying to upgrade WordPress? (You are on version: WordPress 3.0.3, not 3.4.1).

If you do not have a backup, try to get one from the host.

Thank you for the note — I looked for what version of WP I’m on and couldn’t find it — but then, I’m kinda distracted at the moment.

No, I was not upgrading WP. As I said, I was entering a new post on the client’s site and updating her primary page. That’s all. Never even came close to an area that would cause that to happen. The only thing I “pushed” was the update button.

I’ve done WP updates before, but I am not a techie by any stretch of the imagination. I looked around the account to try to find the original host — where would I find that? Tried to reach my client — not available.

Have you contacted the hosts? Only this sounds like a database issue and it’s possible that they have issues at their end.

Hi esmi – I don’t own the site — I’m doing this for someone and I don’t know who the host it. I tried reaching the client without luck. And I looked all over the WP site and couldn’t find the information. Do you know where I can find it?

I think you’ll need to ask your client for the details.

Thanks, esmi — obviously, I’m not looking forward to that phone call …
